To supplement its previous donation of three specialised anti-poaching dogs, Old Mutual Namibia recently donated five tents and eight dog straps to the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism’s K9 Unit for the combatting of wildlife crime.

Mufaro Njabulo Nesongano, Old Mutual’s Communications Manager, said in a media statement on Monday with this N.dollars 42 979 donation, the company has completed its commitment to the ministry after previously handing over the three dogs in August this year.

“We spent N.dollars 268 000 on three of the four dogs from the highly specialised Dutch K9 Training Centre in the Netherlands,” he explained.

Nesongano said the three German Shepherds and one Belgian Malinois named Caga, Britta, Vanda and Devil are currently at the Waterberg Law Enforcement Training Centre with their handlers.

“This is part of a six-month training programme they need to complete before being deployed to the country’s north-eastern regions,” he explained.
