Three die after being struck by lightning at Mayondo village

Two women and a two-year-old child died after being struck by lightning at Mayondo village in the Kavango West Region on Saturday.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the weekend crime report on Sunday said the incident occured around 19h00.
It is alleged that Herga Nkombere Nsinano (42), Johanna Mate Hausiku (41) and two-year-old Kornelia Mudi Ngoma were struck by lightning while walking in a field. Their next of kin have been informed.
In an unrelated incident at Mupini village, a 56-year-old man’s body was found floating in the Kavango River on Saturday.
He was identified as Michael Hanyemba Muronga.
It’s alleged that the deceased left his residence to go to the river around 15h00, but did not return.
His body was found floating in the river around 07h00 the next day. It’s is thought that the
deceased drowned, but an autopsy will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death. His next of kin have been informed and police investigations into the matter continue.
