The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in Okahandja arrested two Angolan nationals after they were allegedly found in possession of a live pangolin on Sunday.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT) indicated that the two male suspects reportedly offered to sell the pangolin to an undercover law enforcement official.

The operation that led to the arrest was carried out by the Blue Rhino Task Team, the Protected Resources Division of NamPol and MEFT.

“The suspects are yet to be charged before their appearance in the Okahandja Magistrate’s Court. The pangolin was taken in for rehabilitation and will be released into the wild soon after,” the statement noted.
