Day of the Old Wheeler Right Around the Corner

The Old Wheelers Club of Namibia are celebrating their 12th annual Day of the Old Wheeler and are inviting young and old automotive enthusiasts to join them at their clubhouse for the festivities.

“It is with a great sense of pride and gratitude that we acknowledge our sponsors and members alike for their generosity and tireless efforts prior to, during and currently, for the financing and development of our new club house facilities,” said Brigitte Reissner of the Old Wheelers Club.

Since being officially inaugurated on 15 February 2014, the Old Wheelers Clubhouse has welcomed a new generation of members as more and more families find their passion for vintage vehicles.

This year’s Standard Bank Day of the Old Wheeler will take place on Saturday, 4 October 2014 and starts with the traditional street procession along Independence Avenue, where the public will see a wide variety of old vehicles on display.

“As in the past, an exciting day lies ahead. The cars that will take part in the procession represent a good cross section of vintage motoring,” added Reissner.

As with every Day of the Old Wheeler, there’ll be plenty of good food on offer and a beer tent for refreshments.

Children will have ample activities to take part in while good music, ample parking and attentive security will ensure a fun atmosphere.

There will also be items on sale such as OWC shirts, blouses, caps and stickers. The day will culminate in the traditional raffle draw for a classic 1956 NashAustin Metropolitan.

“Standard Bank Vehicle and Asset Finance, our sponsor since the inception of this event during 2001, have graciously agreed to support this important annual automotive event with its great sense of history.

The Old Wheelers Club of Namibia especially wishes to engage the next generation of old-timer enthusiasts with an invitation to ‘talk technical’, share experiences and simply enjoy each other’s company. So bring your children and an old car and you could enjoy the opportunity of winning a club membership for a member of your family,” Reissner went on to add.
