President CAF body for Women’s Football commends Namibian government for accepting challenge to host continental women’s football tournament

WINDHOEK: The president of the CAF Organising Committee for Women’s Football, Dr Molefi Oliphant commended the Namibian government for accepting the challenge to host the continental women’s football tournament.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women’s Championship will take place from 11 to 25 October 2014 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.

Speaking during the draw for the ninth edition of the games on Saturday, Oliphant said it was the first time that the draw was held outside CAF headquarters, and also in the host country.

Recognition should also be given to Namibia Football Association (NFA) president John Muinjo for the role he played in ensuring that Namibia got the opportunity to host the Cup, said Oliphant.

Oliphant further said they are looking forward to the tournament, and especially for the host team the Brave Gladiators to shine during the competition.

He also applauded Telecom Namibia Mobile (TN Mobile) for being the title sponsor of the tournament.
