Deloitte and Touche fights fraud with free tip off service

The Deloitte and Touche will in April launch its toll free Tip-offs Anonymous hotline service for companies in Namibia through which employees can report fraudulent activities occurring in their organisations. The Deloitte Tip-offs Fraud and Ethics Hotline will enable employees to report fraudulent activities via a toll-free number, email or website to a report analyst who will remove the whistle-blower’s identity from the report, capture the report and forward it to a designated person within the organisation for investigation. The whistle-blower will also receive feedback on the issue raised.
According to Jens Kock, Partner Risk Advisory Services, at Deloitte and Touche, early detection of fraudulent activities can protect companies from huge financial losses.
Kock said, occupational fraud is more likely to be detected through a tip-off and therefore it is important that company management and staff be able to identify various types of fraud and to have a means to report this so as to minimize the effect of fraud on the business bottom line.
