Geingob appoints Euclides Mukendwa as NYS Commissioner

President Hage Geingob has appointed Euclides Mukendwa as the Commissioner of the National Youth Service (NYC) effective 01 October 2019.

In a statement issued to the media by Press Secretary, Alfredo Hengari on Thursday said the five-year term appointment was done in line with the NYC Act No 6 of 2005 Section 11.

Mukendwa replaces Onesmus Upindi, whose term expired at the end of March 2019.

The statement noted that, Mukendwa holds a Bachelor of Accounting from the University of Namibia and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Science and Technology.

He brings a wealth of experience to the position, having served previously in several managerial capacities, including as regional director of the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation, a position he held prior to his appointment, the statement noted.

It further noted that the Head of State expresses confidence and trust in the ability, commitment and fairness with which the Commissioner will discharge his duties and responsibilities.

The NYC assignment is to deliver relevant national services and offer recognised skills training and personal development programmes to the youth through attaining the requisite institutional capacity while engaging in income generating ventures in line with national development goals.
