Gladiators bow out of Cosafa

The Baby Gladiators lost 4-0 to Zimbabwe on Monday to join the Brave Gladiators out of the Semifinals stage at the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Cup in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

In thier final Group A match, the Young Gladiators lost to Zimbabwe through goals Talent Bizeki who scored with a long-range shot that looped over Namibia's goalkeeper, Megan Schuster, in the 19th minute.

Dinah Banda made it 2-0 for Zimbabwe on 31 minutes and then Praynence Zvawanda made it 3-0 by heading into an empty net on 33 minutes.

Banda was on hand to score her second goal of the match and make it 4-0 going into halftime and in second half saw a much improved defensive performance by Namibia as they matched their Zimbabwean counterparts.

The defeat sees the Young Gladiators crash out of the 2019 tournament, while South Africa qualifies top of the group with nine points, followed by Zimbabwe with six.

The Brave Gladiators on Saturday lost lost 3-2 to Zambia and that defeat means the Namibian team will not progress to the next round of the competition. They are now third in the group, level on zero points with their next opponents at the championship, Mauritius who they play on Tuesday.
