Gobabis residents prepare for National Clean-up Campaign

Gobabis residents prepare for their annual clean -up campaign here Friday, with a WALK and BIKE mobilization march that started at the Gobabis Municipal head office to the Epako highway.

The march is the town's response to President Hage Geingob's call for Namibians to participate in the national clean-up campaign slated for 21 September.

The Walk and Bike awareness campaign, saw members of the Namibian defence force (NDF) and the Namibian Police (Nampol) join the public in mobilizing the campaign. The activation concluded with a distribution of car refuse bags which car owners can keep in their cars as a refuse bag and dump at a later stage.

Omaheke Regional Council Senior Public Relations Officer Tauno Iileka told Nampa on Thursday that, the Council has received cleaning materials from both government and private sponsors.

Tauno further said other Local Authorities and Settlements in the Omaheke Region have started collecting materials for their constituencies respectively.

Apart from the sponsorship of materials, other companies such as Shoprite and Spar, said they will sponsor man power by availing some of their employees to part take in the campaign Iileka added.
