A 34-year-old woman is expected to appear in the Walvis Bay Magistrate’s Court after she was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run accident around 20h50 on Tuesday.

A crime report issued on Wednesday by Erongo Region crime investigations coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu, noted that the suspect who was driving a white pick-up was travelling from Walvis Bay towards Longbeach on the B2 road when she hit the pedestrian who died on the spot.

The driver drove away from the scene and was later arrested at her residence at Longbeach.

It is suspected that the unidentified light in complexion man was crossing the road when the incident occurred.

The body was taken to the Walvis Bay State Hospital mortuary for further handling.

The police have requested anyone who can assist in identifying the deceased to come forward to the nearest police station as no identification was found in his possession.

Police investigations in the matter continue.
