Man arrested for possession of suspected diamonds in Rosh Pinah

A 56 year old man was arrested on Friday at Sendelingsdrift border post in Rosh Pinah for possession of four objects suspected and believed to be diamonds.

A weekly crime report issued on Monday by Nampol head of Communication Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi said, the man was arrested at around 15h45 during a search on the vehicle he was traveling in, and the police will continue with investigations.

In a different incident, nine year old Ndara Werner Vihemba was reported to have drowned at around 15h25 on Saturday at Kayengona village river in Rundu while he was fishing with his aunt.

His body was retrieved from the river by police divers on the same day and the next of kin were informed while police investigation continues.

Another kid was reported to have drowned in a water well at Oshikweyo village in Ondangwa on Saturday at around 15h30, he was identified as Tuyoleni Wilbard 12 years of age and the next of kin has been informed while police investigation continues.

It is also reported that a 27 year old man, a former Namibian police officer was arrested on Saturday at Ondangwa for cultivating cannabis plants, he was allegedly found in possession of four live ammunition, 14 empty cartridges, a pistol and an AK-47 without a license.

It is also alleged that three cannabis plants believed to be under his control were discovered and police investigation continues.

Police have also reported that a 65 year woman was hacked with a panga by a 45 year old man on Saturday at at Oshoopala location, Omankono village in Omusati Region. The victim sustained severe injuries and she is admitted at Tsandi district hospital in a critical condition, the suspect was arrested.

It is also reported that a 20 years old man was arrested on Saturday after he allegedly raped a 15 year old girl by having sexual intercourse while she was sleeping in a her room at Oshitishiwa village in Okongo district.
