Man dies at Rundu after being hit twice

An unidentified man died at Rundu on Friday after he was hit twice by two drivers who both fled the scene.

The Namibian Police Force crime investigations coordinator for Kavango East region Deputy Commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu told Nampa on Monday the incident happened at Ndama settlement next to the WimpyTruck port at around 21h40.

Kanyetu said the deceased who is san speaking was busy crossing the road when he was first hit by a white Toyota Corrolla which was traveling from east to west direction.

He was again hit for the second time by a vehicle traveling from west to eastern direction.

According to Kanyetu the deceased died on the spot and both drivers fled the scene.

He has not yet been identified and his next of kin not informed yet.

In an unrelated incident also on the same day, an adult man whose age is not known died at Taratara village in the Ndiyona constituency after a pounding maize meal machine fell on him.

Kanyetu said the deceased was pounding maize meal with the pounding machine when the incident happened at around 15h00.

He has been identified as Sirunda Samuel and his next of kin have been informed.
