A 32-year-old woman died from multiple injuries to the head after her 45-year-old boyfriend allegedly hacked her with a panga at Oikalahenye village in the Ohangwena Region’s Ongenga Constituency on Monday.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) coordinator of crime investigations in the region, Deputy Commissioner Zacharia Amakali, on Tuesday said the murder allegedly occurred at the homestead of the suspect at around 23h45.

Amakali named the deceased as Lucia Nakadilu Nghidipo from Eengwe village also in the Ohangwena Region and was visiting the suspect since Sunday.

According to Amakali, the incident took place after the duo returned from the local cuca shops. He went on to say the suspect has been arrested on a murder charge, read with the Domestic Violence Act.

The murder weapon was also recovered and the suspect is yet to appear in court.

The next of kin of Nghidipo have been informed about her death and police investigations into the matter continue.
