Murray and Roberts employees die in accident on Western Bypass

WINDHOEK: Two employees of the Murray and Roberts construction company died on the spot when their truck overturned in Windhoek on Thursday afternoon.
Sergeant Slogan Matheus of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Public Relations Division said at a media briefing here on Sunday afternoon the driver lost control of the vehicle on the Western Bypass.
According to Matheus, the truck had been transporting about 30 employees back to their residential areas on Thursday at around 17h30 when the accident occurred.
The deceased have been identified as Ndatipo Kunasha, 46; and the 51-year-old Willem Shikongo.
The other 28 employees sustained injuries and were taken to the Katutura State Hospital for treatment.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
Also in the Khomas region, NamPol is investigating two cases of reckless driving.
According to Matheus, a truck trailer slipped and hit two sedans that were turning into Mandume Ndemufayo Avenue from the Western Bypass on Wednesday at around 16h30.
Four people sustained serious injuries.
On Friday, the driver of a Coca Cola truck that was transporting empty cooldrink crates lost control over the vehicle due to wet conditions on the road, hitting a Volkswagen sedan in the process.
The driver of the sedan sustained injuries and was taken to the Roman Catholic Hospital.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
