Nakale happy with 2019 athletics season

TangeniNakale the founder of the TangeniNakale Athletics Kids Fun Run says 2019 was a good year for his athletes and he hopes they will build on their success in 2020.

Nakale said this during their third and last event of the year which was held on Saturday at the Okuryangava informal settlement in the capital at an open space along Gaddafi Street.

More than 25 kids took part in this year's annual TangeniNakale Athletics Kids Fun Run.

TangeniNakale, a former long-distance athlete initiated this championship that see kids compete amongst themselves three times in a year at the Okuryangava informal settlement in the capital in March 2015.

Nakale told Nampa on Saturday that his dream of encouraging young people to participate in sport while also providing a platform for promising athletes to be identified is working well as more young athletes competed at recognised competitions in the country this year.

I am so happy to say that this year athletes from the TangeniNakale Athletics Kids Fun Run competed at the Dr Sam Nujoma half marathon as well as the Nedbank City Run. Our athletes competed in the five-kilometre run and managed to come in first place from these competitions, he said.

He added that this year's final run from his young athletes will be at the Navachab half marathon which will be held in September in Karibib later this year.

JesayaHaulumbu, has been impressive this year from the two events he competed in. He finished first at all those events while his teammates made the top 10 positions. Our dream is to continue growing the annual TangeniNakale Athletics Kids Fun Run so that more sponsors can join our loyal sponsors Marathon Sugar who provides tracksuits and t-shirts that we give to our athletes to wear, Nakale said.
