Namibia: Cosafa Cup Trophy Tour Starts in Walvis Bay

The Cosafa Castle Cup was successfully activated at the Kuisebmund stadium in Walvis Bay on Saturday.

The day was vibrant and the audience was graced with the presence of former Brave Warriors players, while former Mauritius international Jean Marc Ithier was also in attendance.

The day began with a couple of introductory and welcoming remarks by the representative of the Walvis Bay Mayors' office, Councillor Samson Nghilumbwa.

"The journey of this Cup through Namibia is unique because it serves to unite and connect Namibians towards one purpose.

"The joy of last year's victory was felt by many. We wish our boys all the best when they take on the task of defending the trophy at next month's competition."

The day was filled with fun as veterans took to the artificial pitch to take on a team that was selected from the audience in a five-a-side match.

Women also got an opportunity to show off their footballing skills when a few women were chosen from the public to face a team of five men also picked from the audience in attendance.

All in all it was a great opening stop on the trophy tour and it seems all subsequent stops will be successful judging by the first one.

Next up on the road for the Trophy Tour is Okahanja on the 27th of May.
