Namibia Fish Consumption Promotion Trust tours Windhoek settlements

The Namibia Fish Consumption Promotion Trust (NFCPT) from Monday to Friday toured Windhoek settlements and surrounding areas to create easier access to fish for residents at an affordable price.

In an interview with Nampa here yesterday, NFCPT marketing officer, Selma Moongo, said the target market is residents of more remote areas as they lack accessibility to fish.

The trust, which saw it sell baby hake, john dory, jacopever, redfish and mackerel, started in Dordabis then moved on to Okahandja Park, Greenwell Matongo and 7de Laan in Otjomuise.

Moongo said there is a perception that Namibians prefer red meat over fish, and yet the demand for fish is there.

The fish sales in the Khomas Region have not been great, but the timing of the sales might have been to blame, she said.
