Namibian Ambassador to Ethiopia yesterday signed an establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Namibia and the Republic of Azerbaijan

Namibian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Emilia Mkusa, yesterday signed an establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Namibia and the Republic of Azerbaijan at the Namibian Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Ambassador Mkusa told Nampa in a telephone interview on Thursday that the establishment of diplomatic relations came about as a result of joint efforts between the two countries to strengthen ties in areas of mutual interest.

She said the two countries look forward to working together on vital issues such as sustainable development, peace and security; and climate change.

The formalisation of bilateral relations will allow the two countries to explore cooperation in mineral exploration, mining, capacity development, policy coordination, tourism, trade and people-to-people exchanges, Mkusa said.

Azerbaijan is the only European country which is a member of the non-aligned movement and as a country accredited to the African Union (AU), Namibia stands to benefit from diplomatic relations once and an ambassador to the country is appointed by our President, Mkusa said.
