Neckertal Green Scheme bidding advert delayed – Uugwanga

Agriculture Business Development Agency (AgriBusDev) Managing Director (MD) Petrus Uugwanga, said the bidding documents for the Neckertal Green Scheme were not cleared on time and thus it was not advertised on time.

Last week, AgriBusDev announced that the bidding documents for the development of the irrigation scheme will be available as from the 13 September this year.

It further revealed that Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry (MAWF), together with AgriBusDev, will engage in the development of the Neckertal green scheme, which will be done through Public Private Partnership on a Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) basis.

In an interview with Nampa recently, Uugwanga explained that all relevant stakeholders did not clear the bidding documents, adding that the documents will be made available in the course of the month of September.

The MD stressed that government has to start getting its return on the funds it invested in the dam, noting that these returns can be in the form of employment creation and the uplifting of the local and regional economy.
