NPL announces dates of rescheduled board meeting and ordinary congress

The Namibian Premier League (NPL) has announced the dates of the rescheduled Board of Governors (BoG) and Annual Ordinary Congress (AOC).

In a statement made available to NAMPA the public relations and marketing Officer Andre Gariseb said the two meetings which were initially scheduled to take place on 31 August will the held on Wednesday 11 and Saturday, 21 September respectively.

The statement states that the postponement of the two gatherings was necessitated by the ongoing financial audit, which is expected to be completed by 14 September 2019.

Amongst the issues to be discussed will be the audit statement for the 2018/19 football season as well as the filling of vacancies, membership standing, the league consolidate its calendar of events, plans and fixtures for the new season Gariseb noted.

The AGM which is a constitutional assembly that represents the supreme, legislative and decision-making authority of the NPL is convened yearly with the main purpose to review the league's operations for the concluded season and preparing for the new season.

Gariseb further concluded by saying as it is customary, two delegations from each official NPL members are expected to be present and contribute positively to the development of the game.

On the 29th of August, the league issued a media release stating that it had postponed the two meetings due to the audit, while there was speculation that the members (clubs) had pressurised the league into postponing the meetings.
