Otjozondjupa traffic chief laid to rest at Otjiwarongo

The late police traffic officer who died in a motorbike accident on 23 September this year near Otjiwarongo, was laid to rest in an official burial service on Saturday afternoon at the town.

The 54-year-old Joseph Phillip Severus dead instantly after he allegedly lost control over the police motorbike he was operating on 23 September some 35 kilometres north of Otjiwarongo at about three O'clock.

He allegedly held onto the motorbike after he lost control and rolled with it several times.

Severus was the police's traffic sub-divisional head in the Otjozondjupa Region at Otjiwarongo where he served as a chief inspector.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) accorded him an official burial and gun salute services since he died on duty while returning from a farm situated between Otjiwarongo and Otavi in line with his work.

He joined the police force in 1988 at Otjiwarongo.

Severus left behind four children and his wife Ursula.
