Three arrested for wildlife crimes

A total of three people were arrested for wildlife crimes between 02 and 08 December, the Ministry of Environment and Tourism has reported.

In its latest wildlife crime statistics report issued on Wednesday, the ministry said two new cases were also registered during the period under review.

One suspect was apprehended in connection with elephant poaching or trafficking, while another two were arrested after being found with two live pangolins.

The report further disclosed that two live pangolins and four elephant tusks were confiscated.

It is further indicated in the report that Bangorogile Mosokwe who was charged for contravening the controlled wildlife product and trade act was found guilty in court and sentenced to four years in prison or a fine of N.dollars 100 000.
