Three people drowned in separate incidents over the weekend

Three people drowned in separate incidents over the weekend, according to a police weekend crime report issued yesterday.

Namibian Police Force spokesperson, Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi said one incident occurred at Farm Toko Lodge in Kamanjab, where Gabriel Kondjeni Kenahama, 19, drowned on Saturday.

Shikwambi said it is alleged that the deceased drowned in a dam while he was swimming with two friends.

As they were swimming he got overpowered by the water and screamed for help, whereby one of his friends unsuccessfully attempted to rescue him, she noted, adding that the police were summoned and the body was retrieved from the water.

On Saturday around 14h20 at a construction site at Goreangab Dam in Windhoek, 12-year-old Phillipus Kakoto fell in a trench filled with rainwater and drowned.

A 23-year-old man identified as Mabasen Gaweseb also drowned on Saturday around 155 at Farm Kaliber, in the Khomas Hochland district.

It is alleged that the deceased drowned while swimming in a dam of about five meters deep.
