Two commit suicide in Kavango West

SAUYEMWA:  Two people committed suicide at separate places in the Kavango West region, with one by hanging himself while the second one shot himself this weekend.

The first incident occurred on Saturday at Mazwa village situated some 50km west of Rundu in the Kavano West region, where a 25 year-old man shot himself with a shotgun in his stomach and died shortly thereafter.

The Namibian Police force (NamPol) Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Willie Bampton told this reporter on Sunday that the deceased died while he was being to the Rundu State Hospital.

The police said the reason for the suicide could not be established as no suicide note was left behind.

The deceased has been identified as Johannes Pessa, a resident of the Mazwa village.

The deceased next of kin were informed and police have opened an inquest docket into the incident.

The first incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, where a 28 year-old man hanged himself with a rope in the hut kitchen at Suayemwa informal settlement on the western outskirt of Rundu.

The deceased was identified as Albert Kalokwa, a resident of the Sauyemwa location and no suicide note was left behind.

The deceased next of kin were already informed.
