Two die in Okahandja-Otjiwarongo B1 road collision

An 80-year-old Otjiwarongo based livestock farmer and his adult male farmworker both died instantly on Thursday morning in a collision that occurred on the Otjiwarango-Okahandja B1 road.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Otjozondjupa Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commission Naukalemo Andreas in an interview with Nampa at the scene said the two deceased men were on their way to the farm at the time of accident.

“Both deceased persons are known to us, but their close relatives are yet to be informed officially on the incident,” Andreas said.

The police officer said the deceased’s white pickup was transporting two sheep and a bag of fodder and at approximately 55 kilometres south of Otjiwarongo, it collided head on with an oncoming mini-truck at about 08h00 on Thursday.

The two sheep were also killed in the accident due to the severe impact, she said.

A 27-year-old truck driver who was alone, survived the accident with minor injuries.

Police investigations continue.
