Two NamPol officials escape death after hitting kudu

Two men, one of them a Warrant Officer at the MaltahAlhe Police Station escaped death after the car they were travelling in hit a kudu and left the road and went through a fence.

The Namibian Police Force's Crime Investigations Coordinator for the Hardap Region, Deputy Commissioner Eric Clay told Nampa on Sunday the incident happened on the D1089 gravel road between Gibeon and Helmeringhausen at about 09h00 on Saturday.

It is alleged that the driver of a white Toyota Hilux with Police registration number 9321 lost control of the vehicle after he bumped a kudu and the vehicle left the road, went through the fence and came to a halt in the nearby camp, Clay said.

Clay said the driver, Johan Burger, 59, a Clerk at the station sustained serious head injuries, while passenger and Warrant Officer Jan Sogaib sustained slight injuries.

Both were transported to Mariental State Hospital for treatment, but Burger was transferred to Katutura State Hospital due to the seriousness of his injuries.
